Overview
The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing hands-on daily inspections and maintenance, as well as the repair, removal, reinstallation, or replacement of park rides, buildings, and equipment throughout Story Land. The duties include maintenance of general spaces within the park, such as office buildings, pavilions, and restrooms. The Maintenance Technician may also provide maintenance services for amusement rides, water rides, go-karts, and all other attractions found within the park. The position is part of Story Land and is an equal-opportunity role.
Roles & Responsibilities
Perform annual bolt tightening and daily inspection on wooden roller coaster (training provided).
Perform general facility-wide maintenance and related work on roofing, exterior and interior buildings and structures, restrooms, food buildings, and pump rooms.
Lead and assist with daily carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical projects.
Perform daily inspection and testing of amusement rides, water rides, and other attractions, signing off on safety and completion.
Troubleshoot, test, service, and repair amusement rides, including removal, reinstallation, and replacement of ride parts.
Provide general upkeep and maintenance of all buildings and physical structures within the park.
Provide general maintenance, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair broken equipment and attractions with minimal supervision.
Develop an understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic circuits to assist with maintaining continuous ride operation.
Perform water quality duties within on-site housing and food areas of the park.
Safely operate heavy equipment including forklifts and scissor lifts.
Operate park motor vehicles on and off site.
Education and Experience
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
Trade school training or other technical certification is a plus.
1+ year of previous maintenance or construction work experience preferred.
Background in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, or landscaping is preferred but not required.
Previous work experience maintaining roller coasters, amusement rides, or attractions is desirable but not required.
Language
Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English; bilingual skills (e.g., Spanish) are a plus.
Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with NH Child Labor Laws.
Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, generally 40 to 50 hours per week.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
Must possess strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools safely, including landscaping equipment.
General knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pumps, motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing, and carpentry preferred.
Ability to read and comprehend ride maintenance manuals, blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, stoop, twist, kneel, bend, climb, or squat for long periods.
Ability to remain on feet for the majority of the workday.
Ability to lift and move objects weighing 75 pounds or more.
Ability to work in confined spaces or at heights, including scaffolds, ladders, and manlifts.
Fine motor control to grasp and move objects/tools, with ability to discern colors and brightness.
Working Conditions
Exposure to variable outdoor temperatures, heat, cold, sun, humidity, dust, rain, snow, and other weather conditions.
Subject to high noise levels, vibrations, motorized equipment, chemicals, and greases.
Subject to exposure to bloodborne pathogens; proper PPE is required.
Subject to working at significant heights greater than 50 feet.
