Job Summary

Residential Life Coordinator (RLC) is a full-time, live-in position responsible for the total administration and operation of a residential community. RLCs foster welcoming, vibrant communities that support personal growth, belonging, and the student experience through staff and student development, resident outreach, community building, facilities attention, and administrative organization.
The salary range is $42,024 to $45,000, dependent on education, experience, and skills. Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree
One year of professional student affairs experience in higher education or relevant related field
Ability to establish and maintain effective, collaborative relationships with campus colleagues
High level of cultural humility and experience working with marginalized populations, including first-generation college students
Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach to meet the needs of students, faculty, staff, and the public
Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with StarRez and Banner
Spanish language proficiency
Two years of residential life experience
Experience with program development and assessment of residential curriculum
Experience with project management
Experience supervising student staff

Job Duties

Staff Development – 25% of time

Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate 5–18 Community Advisors and Office Workers
Facilitate departmental CA training and in-hall staff training sessions
Lead weekly staff meetings and individual staff development meetings
Apply departmental leadership strategies across staff
Provide ongoing feedback and formal evaluations each quarter
Community & Student Development – 30% of time

Foster inclusive community environments and provide resident support
Address housing-related issues and student concerns
Support life skills development, diversity and inclusion, and sense of belonging
Mediate interpersonal conflicts; guide CAs in residential education model
Advise and lead the Hall/Community Council and develop learning outcomes for programs
Administrative Responsibilities – 25% of time

Act as liaison with campus partners; report to work during emergencies
Participate in live-on on-call duty rotation; provide emergency response
Coordinate front desk operations; supervise student payroll and scheduling
Manage room-change processes and communicate with Housing staff
Oversee budget for staff development, community building, and payroll
Use StarRez and other programs for facilities management
Facilities Management – 5% of time

Assist with opening/closing of residential halls; bi-weekly meetings with custodial/maintenance leads
Maintain administrative records and conduct safety and accessibility monitoring
Professional Development – 10% of time

Engage in professional development with the Assistant Director of Residential Life
Participate in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work within Housing
Other Duties as Assigned – 5% of time

Serve on departmental, divisional, and university committees
Assume other duties as assigned
Conditions of Employment

Employee may handle university funds or valuables and may work with vulnerable populations. Background check is required prior to starting employment. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available. All new employees must comply with EWU immunization requirements and provide proof of immunity or vaccination to MMR unless waivers apply. This position is covered by the Public School Employees of Washington Collective Bargaining Agreement. After hire, online or in-person training will be provided. Interviews may be conducted via Zoom.
