Job Purpose
The temporary research administration assistant will provide critical support to the Assistant Directors in advancing and managing externally funded sponsored projects. This role plays an integral part in facilitating the research enterprise by assisting with the preparation, submission, and administration of proposals, agreements, and awards.
Responsibilities
Partner with Assistant Directors to ensure the timely and accurate submission of research proposals, subawards, and related agreements. Prepare and route UT electronic forms for review and approval by the Office of Sponsored Projects.
Support the administration of research awards, including monitoring reporting requirements and assisting with financial and progress reporting.
Contribute to the coordination of grants and contracts throughout their lifecycle, helping to streamline compliance and operational processes. Provide adaptable support on additional research administration tasks as needed to advance the mission of sponsored projects.
This position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the success of faculty research by ensuring that funding proposals and sponsored projects are managed with efficiency and care. The work will strengthen UT's capacity to pursue cutting‑edge research and expand its impact through externally funded initiatives.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
Demonstrated experience in administrative support with the ability to manage both routine and complex tasks.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, data analysis, and detailed reporting with a high level of accuracy.
Strong experience in formatting and proofreading professional documents in Microsoft Office applications.
Proven ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in following established procedures.
Experience interpreting and following instructions consistently and reliably.
Commitment to providing excellent customer service and support.
Self‑motivated, proactive, and independent work ethic, with the ability to research and resolve questions effectively using available resources.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Dependable, reliable, and motivated, with a resourceful and adaptable approach to challenges.
Professional demeanor with consistent punctuality and attendance.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and at least five years of relevant administrative experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Previous experience working in a higher education or research environment.
Proficiency with UT systems, including DEFINE, FRMS, and Point Plus.
Familiarity with UT purchasing, accounting, and research administration policies and procedures.
Hourly Rate
$25
Working Conditions
Business casual attire.
Standard office environment.
Use of manual dexterity.
Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.

M-F, 8 am—5 pm
