On-Call Residential Assistant – High View, West Virginia
Provides monitoring and oversight of residential/transitional housing facilities and residents, supporting individuals living with mental health and substance use disorders.
Position Description
On‑call residential assistants deliver direct services in a supportive environment, maintain safety and compliance, and assist residents with daily needs and transitions.
Required Qualifications
High School Degree or GED; 1–3 years’ experience in social services; experience providing services in addictions or mental health treatment.
Schedule
Fluctuating schedule that includes evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts.
Shifts Needed
8:00 am – 4:00 pm
4:00 pm – 12:00 am
12:00 am – 8:00 am
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of substance abuse treatment and mental health issues
Conflict resolution skills
Flexibility with the ability to multi‑task despite competing priorities
Ability to remain calm in crisis situations
Organized with attention to detail
Ability to work independently
Ability to communicate with diverse audiences
Demonstrates professionalism and maintains confidentiality while working with sensitive issues
Problem‑solving skills
Relationship building skills
Ability to set professional boundaries
Expected Contributions
Reports crisis situations, emergencies, and maintenance issues to an on‑call person
Appropriately handles emergencies and/or de‑escalates crisis situations as they arise
Available to residents during the assigned shift for support as needed
Facilitates/conducts designated group sessions scheduled during shift
Monitors residents’ compliance with rules and regulations and gives appropriate consequences
Responsible for overseeing client self‑medication administration
Maintains resident confidentiality
Receives report at the start of shift and gives a report at the end of shift
Transports residents in a SOME vehicle to and from AA/NA meetings and supervises residents while away from the facility—including transit to Washington, DC for graduation
All documentation is completed accurately and completely on a daily basis
Maintain up‑to‑date first aid & CPR certifications
Compensation and Benefits
Hourly rate: $17.50 per hour. Benefits include a 401(k) match of up to 6% and opportunities for growth and advancement.
