Position Summary
SMHWI is seeking a full‑time, remote Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to provide psychiatric care across a detoxification program, residential treatment center, and intensive outpatient program (IOP) in New Mexico. This role supports comprehensive, evidence‑based treatment for individuals with substance use and co‑occurring mental health disorders.
The PMHNP will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary clinical team to deliver high‑quality psychiatric assessment, medication management, and treatment planning across multiple levels of care.
Schedule & Coverage
Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
On‑Call Rotation: 1 week per month
Remote Position (New Mexico and Nevada licensed, with DEA)
Key Responsibilities
Conduct psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management for patients in:
Detox
Residential treatment
Develop, implement, and adjust individualized treatment plans
Collaborate with physicians, therapists, nursing, and case management teams
Provide clinical oversight and support for detox protocols and stabilization
Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation
Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings
Support continuity of care and discharge planning
Respond to on‑call clinical needs during assigned coverage periods
Maintain compliance with state, federal, and organizational regulations
Required Qualifications
Current PMHNP certification
Active New Mexico and Nevada APRN license (required)
Active DEA license (required)
Ability to practice independently under New Mexico scope of practice
Experience in substance use treatment , detox, residential, or IOP settings preferred
Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage complex psychiatric presentations
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Comfortable working remotely and managing time across multiple programs
