Work Schedule
Monday through Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm. This position requires evening and weekend availability.

Appointment Length
Regular Continuous/Until Further Notice.

Salary
$45,000 – $54,700.

Position Overview
The Department of Theatre seeks a skilled and collaborative production professional for a 12‑month staff appointment focused on theatrical production implementation and facilities support. As Head Carpenter and Theatre Technical Production Coordinator , the incumbent implements scenic designs, assists with oversight of the production lab, maintains inventory, supports equipment and facility upkeep, and supervises student volunteers and paid students. The position also manages production lab logistics such as materials purchasing and equipment rentals. Active participation in production meetings, technical and dress rehearsals, is required and coordinated with the Head of Theatre and the Technical Director. The position requires flexibility and the ability to work evenings and weekends as dictated by the production schedule.

Responsibilities
Works as Head Carpenter implementing scenic designs and production elements; implements training and supervision for student production crews; provides technical leadership and operational oversight for departmental productions and space rentals; maintains inventory and facilitates equipment and facility upkeep; manages production lab logistics, including materials purchasing and equipment rentals; coordinates participation with Head of Theatre and Technical Director; ensures safety and compliance while working at elevations and with heavy equipment.

Working Conditions
Safely navigate theatrical infrastructure, including ladders and catwalk systems, at elevations up to 60 feet which are not ADA accessible. Frequent lifting and maneuvering of equipment up to 75 lbs.

Required Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in a theatre‑related field, with a minimum of 2 years of professional theatrical experience in technical production or equivalent (degree must be conferred on or before the agreed‑upon start date).

Experience in sourcing materials and managing production budgets.

Demonstrated proficiency in theatrical scenic construction.

Proficiency in MIG welding and steel fabrication.

Understanding of rigging components and counterweight fly systems.

Cross‑disciplinary knowledge of lighting and sound components.

Knowledge of theatrical production safety protocols.

Ability to maintain production tools and equipment.

Excellent organizational, communication, and collaborative skills.

Ability to lead and educate production crew students.
