Part -Time Middle School Math Teacher

The Part-Time Specialty Math Teacher guides students in grades 6 through 8 through a rich and developmentally attuned journey in mathematics, cultivating clarity of thinking, perseverance, and confidence. Through thoughtfully prepared and engaging lessons, the teacher supports students’ growing capacity for abstract reasoning while remaining responsive to individual learning needs in collaboration with the learning support team. Clear communication with families and thoughtful stewardship of student progress are integral to the role.

This is a part-time position consisting of a minimum of two 45-minute math sections (6th and 7th grade) per day, 3–4 days per week, with flexibility on scheduling.

There is also the potential to expand the role with additional responsibilities—such as supporting 5th and/or 8th grade math classes, leading an after-school math club, or assisting with recess coverage—based on interest and availability.

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver effective and engaging math lessons for middle school students

Maintain a coherent scope and sequence across assigned grade levels

Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs in collaboration with the learning support team

Communicate regularly with families, including periodic updates on class activities

Maintain student records related to attendance and academic progress

Prepare progress reports in accordance with school policies

Participate in faculty meetings and contribute to the school community as appropriate for a part-time role

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and prior teaching experience

Previous Waldorf training and/or willingness to pursue Waldorf professional development

Strong classroom management and communication skills

Ability to be on your feet for extended periods and navigate a school environment
