Prep cook

The Place:

Palma is a 22 year old family owned gem located at 28 Cornelia Street in the West Village. We are a bustling traditional Italian restaurant that has very unique events capabilities.

Job essential responsibilities:

Prepare food for service; portioning, chopping, and storing food before use

Follow a prep list with working knowledge of ingredients and Palma's recipes

Maintain department cleanliness and organization, adhere to safe work and equipment practices, and follow all food safety, health and sanitation standards

Replenish kitchen inventory and supplies as needed

Ensure all the products and prepared items are properly labeled and handled following FIFO (first in, first out)

Follow Palma's policies and guidelines

Your skills and experience:

2+ years in a similar position within an upscale dining environment

Ability to follow an accurate prep schedule

Excellent command of kitchen techniques, from portioning to manipulation of market produce

High standards for cleanliness of workspace and service areas

Knowledge of Italian cuisine a plus

DOH certificate required

Ability to work independently as well as a team leader

Excellent verbal & non-verbal communication skills

Impeccable attention to detail

Compensation Details
Compensation: Hourly ($18.00 - $19.00)
