Neonatology Physician

Location: Redding, CA
Position Type: Locum Physician Neonatology

Overview
A Level III NICU is seeking ongoing monthly locum coverage. Role includes daily NICU rounding and call coverage. No newborn nursery rounding.

Practice Highlights
• Level III NICU, Level II Trauma Center
• Average NICU census: 7 12 patients/day
• Call-back required but rare (avg 4.7 hrs)
• No APP support
• Supports FP residents, Pediatric Hospitalists, Laborists
• EMR: Cerner Care B

Schedule
• Orientation: Afternoon prior to first shift
• Coverage Needed:
January (ending 21st AM)
11th 20th (ending 21st AM) every month ongoing
• Daily NICU rounding + call coverage
• No nursery rounding

Required Procedures
• Ventilatory assistance including ETT CPAP
• Nasal CPAP >4 hrs or >6 cm H O or FiO >0.60
• Surfactant (beyond first dose)
• Pressor administration
• FiO >0.60
• PaCO >50 on 2 ABGs
• Art line / central line
• Chest tube
• TPN Hyperalimentation
• Exchange transfusion
• GA

Candidate Requirements
• BC/BE Neonatal Perinatal Medicine
• Active State License
• BLS, NRP, DEA
• CCS paneled provider REQUIRED at submission
• Recent Neonatology experience (not Pediatrics)
• Clean malpractice
• Must be active staff at a TJC-accredited facility
