Opportunity Overview

A Level III NICU in Redding, CA is seeking an experienced Locum Neonatologist for ongoing monthly coverage. Provide critical care to high-acuity newborns in a well-supported environment with dedicated NICU nursing, pediatric hospitalists, laborists, and residents.

️ Schedule

• 24-hour call coverage

• Monthly block needed: 11th 20th (ending 21st AM)

• Orientation: Afternoon before first shift

• Daily NICU rounding + call availability

• No nursery rounding (Peds hospitalists cover nursery)

Rate Caps

• 24-hr Call: Up to $3,000/day (includes 8 gratis hours)

• Call Back: $240/hr

Clinical Details

• Setting: Level III NICU

• Trauma Level: II

• Daily Census: 7 12 patients

• Callback average: 4.7 hrs/day (rare 6 8 hr days)

• Procedures include:

  • Ventilator management & CPAP

  • Surfactant (beyond initial dose)

  • Pressor support

  • Central/peripheral lines, arterial lines

  • Chest tubes

  • TPN

  • Exchange transfusion

  • Prematurity:

• EMR: Cerner Care B

• No APPs; works with FP residents & pediatric hospitalists

Requirements

• BC/BE Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine REQUIRED

• Active State License REQUIRED

• BLS, NRP, DEA REQUIRED

• California Children s Services (CCS) paneled at submission REQUIRED

• Recent, substantial NICU experience REQUIRED

• Clean malpractice REQUIRED

• Must be active staff at a TJC-accredited facility (not as a locum)

• Availability at name clear

• Standard travel reimbursed per assignment instructions
