Overview:
A hospital-based opportunity is available for a Cardiothoracic Surgeon to provide call coverage within a well-established cardiac surgery program. This role includes managing consults, performing complex cardiac and thoracic procedures, and working alongside a highly experienced multidisciplinary team.
Compensation:
24 Hour On Call: $4,000 with 4 gratis hours
Call Back: $400/hr after gratis
Assignment Dates:
July 10 July 20, 2026
August 1 August 10, 2026
September onward: ongoing coverage (10 shifts per month required)
Full availability for all listed dates and ongoing 10 shifts/month is required
Schedule:
24-hour call shifts (7:00 AM 7:00 AM)
Practice Details:
Setting: Hospital-based
EMR: Epic
Dedicated cardiothoracic OR
Support from rotating Physician Assistants in the OR
Patient Population: Adult/Geriatric
Program Overview:
Established cardiothoracic surgery program with:
3 surgeons
Advanced practice providers and perfusion support
Dedicated CVICU and step-down unit
High-volume program with a broad range of cardiac and thoracic cases
Participation in national quality and outcomes initiatives
Patient Volume:
Approximately 3 consults per day
1 2 surgical cases per day
Procedures Include:
Adult cardiac surgery
General thoracic surgery
CABG
Valve repair and replacement
Aortic dissection
Thoracotomy, lung resections, and pneumonectomy
Pericardial window
Tube thoracostomy
VA and VV ECMO placement
Requirements:
MD or DO Required
Completion of accredited residency and cardiothoracic fellowship Required
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiothoracic Surgery Required
Active Idaho License or IMLC Required
DEA and controlled substance registration Required
ACLS Required
Clean background and malpractice history Required
Must meet full availability requirements for listed dates and ongoing schedule Required
Credentialing:
Must be able to obtain privileges prior to start
