Scope Of Responsibility
This position performs duties required for the movement of raw, in-process and finished steel products throughout the fabrication process either by forklift operations or manually. This position is also responsible for safely operating the saw and punch of all beams as required by the blue prints.
Essential Duties
Manually stack or move steel products up to 75 lbs or use forklift
Operate heavy equipment in beam area, such as forklifts and machinery
Break down bundles of steel beams and loads on holding table
Prepare steel beams and measure exact length before it is cut to specifications
Move beams by hand to feed into the punch, actuate the punch and move loaded bundles down the conveyor where needed for punches
Inspect, measure and adjust punch hole patterns
Move product to and from storage or production areas by hand or using forklifts
Tag and place material for identification
Record number of units handled or moved, using daily production sheets or work tickets
Inspect all equipment prior to use (forklifts, punch machine, conveyors, electric saw, etc.)
Operate the robot and maintain the robot operation and area, if applicable
Use good judgment, follow instructions and have good problem-solving abilities
Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs
Inform Lead and Supervisor of any quality concerns, equipment failures or concerns
Perform housekeeping activities to keep the work area and equipment clean and organized
Additional duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or Management
Position Requirements
Experience using forklifts highly preferred
Regular, consistent & timely attendance is required
Must know, or be able to learn, how to read a tape measure and blue prints
Must be able to understand basic English
Knowledge of basic shop mathematics, addition, subtraction, fractions and decimals
Excellent attention to detail and strong ability to multi-task
High School Diploma, or equivalent preferred
Physical Requirements
Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 75 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 50 pounds of force constantly to move objects
Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, tugging, stooping, bending, twisting, crawling and handling of materials.
Position requires manual dexterity, ability to pick/pinch and work with fingers, repetitive motions of wrists/hands/finger, arm-hand steadiness and a safety-minded individual.
Must be able to work in an open environment for long shifts (including weekends) exposed to extreme temperatures, standing entire shift
Must have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and receive information from all relevant sources
Visual acuity to perform visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes
