Position
Day Shift Outside Production Forklift Operator at the Main Plant. Five openings. Full‑time.
Summary
Safely operates forklift on tank yard to unload and transport raw materials.
Duties and Responsibilities
Operates forklift to unload incoming trucks of plastic boxes, cardboard, or other containers of raw materials including cucumbers, cauliflower, pepperoncini, okra, onions, brine stock, etc.; manually pushes, lifts, or unloads some incoming raw materials packed in baskets or barrels and dumps into bins.
Operates forklift to load outgoing trucks with brine stock, pallets, bins, etc.
Operates forklift to transport raw materials in plastic boxes, bins, or barrels to and from the graders, washers, hydrocooler, the bulk unloader, the tanks, and to grading and process as required.
Operates forklift to dump raw materials into hoppers.
Operates graders, washers, bulk uploaders, hydrocooler, or other equipment; determines that this equipment is operating properly and raw materials are graded or washed properly and not lost on ground.
Operates forklift to transport and stack empty plastic boxes and grade out bad plastic boxes.
Weighs raw materials at forklift scales as required.
Follows safety rules and company policies.
Other duties: Operates tractor to haul product on occasion (only trained/cleared FL operators); assists with other Outside Production or Cutting department duties as needed; cleans assigned work area including unloading and tankyard areas, graders, hydrocoolers, and washer; picks up trash using hands or sweeping motion with shovel; uses broom to sweep; occasionally washes hydrocoolers, graders, etc.; participates in training, employee meetings, committees, project teams, etc.; receives written and verbal instructions; performs other duties as directed by Supervisor.

Requirements
Certified forklift operator.
High school graduate; additional training preferred.
Ability to read and write in English required.
Basic understanding of addition, subtraction, and multiplication required.
Physical Demands
Climbing: ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps up to 5 ft.
Stooping: bending body downward and forward; requires use of lower extremities and back muscles.
Reaching: extending hands and arms.
Standing: sustained periods.
Walking: moving long distances or between work sites.
Pushing: pressing against objects.
Pulling: exerting force to draw or haul objects.
Lifting: raising objects or moving horizontally; requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles.
Grasping: applying pressure with fingers and palm.
Talking: communicating spoken instructions accurately, loudly, or quickly.
Hearing: perceiving normal speaking level sounds.
Heavy work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or up to 20 pounds constantly.
Visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment required.
Work Environment
Works outside, subject to wide seasonal temperature variations and intermittent wetness from rain. Fumes from diesel and propane forklifts, high brine, hot pepper, and stagnant water. Contact with oil, grease, rust, brine, dust. Irritating machinery noise. Gloves, goggles, aprons, ear protection, steel inserts for shoes available as needed. May be required to handle alum, chlorine, anti-foam, vegi‑kleen and gasoline for forklifts.
