The Project Accountant plays a pivotal role in the success of complex, high‑visibility construction projects. This role serves as a strategic partner across departments, ensuring financial clarity, elevating the accuracy and integrity of project documentation, and empowering teams with insights that drive smarter, faster decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Project Accounting
Partner closely with project teams to accurately record, classify, and review all job costs, ensuring financial clarity throughout each project lifecycle.
Deliver meaningful, value‑add reporting that empowers Project Management with actionable insights.
Collect and maintain contracts, billings and change order documentation, ensuring alignment with ERP records.
Collaborate with Project Managers to uncover and implement cost‑saving opportunities that strengthen project performance and support strategic growth.
Conduct proactive internal audits on active projects to ensure accuracy before project closeout.
Oversee warranty tracking and bonding capacity to support long‑term project integrity and organizational readiness.
Analyze financial trends to surface insights, address variances, and support informed decision‑making.
Present clear, professional financial updates that strengthen leadership’s understanding of project health.
Monitor performance against KPIs and translate results into meaningful recommendations.
Accounts Receivable Management
Process and enter pay applications into the ERP system, ensuring smooth integration with billing platforms (e.g., Textura, GCPay).
Partner with internal and external stakeholders to drive timely billing approvals and collections.
Record and reconcile customer payments, ensuring accuracy and transparency in all receivable activities.
Subcontractor Administration
Maintain the approved vendor list and ensure compliance with company terms (e.g., vendor agreements, purchase orders).
Support operational readiness by managing subcontractor prequalification documentation.
JOB Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Minimum of five years of accounting or finance experience; Construction industry experience preferred.
Strong communication and collaboration skills across diverse teams.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial documentation.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to derive insights from complex data.
Proficient in financial principles, including GAAP, budgeting, and cost control.
Self‑motived and capable of working independently.
