Position Summary
Forklift/Scanner Operator is responsible for operating the forklift in loading, unloading and moving of product throughout the warehouse facility using proper equipment and procedures as well as scanning the product in/out of inventory. This role works closely with the department supervisors, other department leads, and processing team members, in order to accomplish accuracy within the processing department and to ensure that our customers receive quality products. This position executes processes that ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations, supporting Foster Poultry Farms’ mission, vision, and ACTION guiding principles: Accountability, Collaboration, Truth-Seeking, Initiative, Ownership, and Nimbleness.

Essential Functions

Safely operate forklift for transportation of product and materials.

Make minor adjustments to the forklift or notify supervisor if forklift is not working properly.

Utilize Personal Protective Equipment properly.

Help maintain and improve quality and food safety, to ensure compliance with company quality standards and USDA regulatory requirements.

Work in a safe manner.

Other duties, as assigned.

All personnel employed or associated with Foster Poultry Farms are responsible for the quality and food safety of company products. The food safety and quality policies are summarized and communicated in a company handbook and at training sessions. Each new hire is provided a handbook and attends a food safety training session before beginning work. All employees attend a refresher training session at least once per year. Records are maintained reflecting the distribution of employee handbooks and attendance at the training sessions.

Physical Requirements

Stand for up to 10 hours on a wet concrete floor.

Withstand a cold (40‑48°F) environment.

Withstand a hot (80+°F) environment.

Safely lift up to 50 lbs.

Work in a fast‑paced work environment.

Qualifications

Work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and E‑Verify.

Read and write English.

Have basic math skills.

Have reliable transportation.

HS diploma or equivalent.

Communicate with all levels including management.

Work with minimal supervision.

Make decisions for flagging deviations from procedures.

Work safely and set an example of safe working habits for coworkers.

Safely operate forklift and/or pallet jack.

Pass company forklift assessments to obtain a company‑issued forklift license.

Wear company‑provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
