Overview
World Wide Engineering & Innovation (WWEI) is seeking an exceptional Sr. Design Engineering Leader to spearhead the development of next-generation sortation systems. This pivotal role will significantly influence both design and process engineering initiatives for the North American Sort Center (NASC), offering the opportunity to lead transformative projects alongside world-class talent. The ideal candidate will drive the design and implementation of next generation sortation centers and logistics systems globally, focusing on innovation in automated material handling, packaging technologies, and robotics. You'll oversee a diverse portfolio of projects, including new facilities, renovations, and retrofits, while developing end-to-end process designs for fulfillment centers, cross-dock facilities, and transportation hubs. This role requires collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to create cost-effective, scalable solutions that shape the future of logistics. We're looking for a proven leader with experience in complex engineering projects, a strong background in automation and logistics systems, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in problem-solving, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management. This position requires 25% global travel to interface with business and technical leaders. Key Responsibilities
Lead strategic design initiatives for our global sortation and transportation network, focusing on developing comprehensive solutions that optimize equipment specifications, material flow, process design, and site layouts while protecting intellectual property. You'll partner with cross-functional teams and vendors to deliver cost-effective innovations under tight deadlines. Success in this role requires exceptional project management skills to handle multiple concurrent initiatives while maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, contractors, and vendors.

Key Activities

Drive innovation in package sortation

Develop optimal solutions for equipment specification and material flow

Create efficient process designs and site layouts

Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors

Generate cost-effective solutions under time constraints

Manage multiple concurrent projects

Build and maintain stakeholder relationships

Provide technical leadership on large-scale projects

Present compelling business cases to senior executives

Execute strategic visions while maintaining operational excellence

Basic Qualifications

5+ years of design & innovation, research & development work experience

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a foreign equivalent

Experience with design & innovation and research & development

Experience in management of engineering design projects

Experience using business or technical software like MS Excel, MS Project, and CAD software

Experience with design innovation, R&D, and complex automated systems including robotics, material handling equipment, and high-speed manufacturing

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of specialty (with progressive responsibility) experience

Master's degree in Engineering (any domain), Operations, Business Administration, or a related field

Knowledge of concepts like system architecture, optimization, system dynamics, system analysis, statistical analysis, reliability analysis, electronic system design, and decision making

Experience with complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems and high-speed manufacturing

Experience with design-in-safety

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
