Overview
The CT, Mammography, or MRI Dual Registered Technologist reports to the Imaging Director. Under general supervision, the technologist performs high quality Radiology and CT/Mammo/MRI examinations in accordance with established protocols for patient populations ranging from neonate through geriatrics for interpretation by a physician.
Responsibilities
Operate radiology, CT, mammography, and MRI equipment while following radiation safety guidelines based on hospital policy and regulatory requirements.
Provide radiographic support for all areas of the hospital as needed.
Position patients accurately for specific anatomic imaging using appropriate immobilization devices when required.
Avoid excessive repeated examinations by adhering to established guidelines.
Perform exams in a manner consistent with quality assurance standards.
Education & Experience
Associate’s Degree or equivalent with 2 years of multi-modality experience.
Graduate of an American Medical Association (AMA) approved school or training program, 24‑month approved School of Radiologic Technology, or other accepted training such as military program.
Licensure, Certifications, Registrations
Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Licensed by the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA).
Certification in each modality area (CT, Mammography, or MRI) required after radiology certification.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – either AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
Physical Requirements
Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors, from elevated areas, and in confined spaces.
Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, and squat as required.
Repetitive hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder motions frequently performed.
Reach arms in all directions; possess good finger dexterity.
Lift and carry 15 lb. unassisted; lift objects 15 lb. from floor to 36 in. and lift from 36 in. to overhead as necessary.
Maintain 20/40 vision (corrected) in one or both eyes; see and recognize objects at near and distance; discriminate colors.
Maintain hearing acuity, with correction; perform fine‑motor movements frequently; work in a latex‑safe environment; maintain tactile sensory functions; have good olfactory function (selected positions).
Qualify physically for respirator use as required.
Additional Requirements
Fully competent in advanced modality skill sets and flexible to rotate among modalities.
