Cook - Assisted Living Weekends (Part Time)

Position
Van Dyk Park Place – Assisted Living is hiring a Part‑Time Cook.
Location
644 Goffle Rd, Hawthorne, NJ
Shift/Hours
Weekends 11 am‑7 pm / 8 am‑4 pm
Pay
$22‑$26 per hour
Requirements
Commercial cooking experience preferred or domestic cooking experience with large groups.
Enjoy working with older adults.
Certificate in food‑preparation training preferred.
Supervisory experience preferred.
High school diploma or GED required.
Valid Food Handlers Serve Safe Certification required.
Responsibilities
Alter or adapt recipes to accommodate special dietary needs of residents or to improve recipes. Recipes should be prepared with little or no added sodium (salt).
Maintain a written inventory of dry goods, refrigerated and frozen foods, non‑food supplies, dishes and utensils.
Prepare meats for storage and portion control upon delivery; ensure proper storage of all delivered foods and ingredients.
Maintain a clean, orderly and safe kitchen environment.
Ensure proper handling, labeling and storage of food for infection control.
Ensure compliance with regulations.
Monitor portion control to meet resident requests and minimize waste.
Ensure attractive presentation of food on the plate before serving.
Notify manager of malfunction of equipment or appliances.
Carry out other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Follow emergency operations plans and properly use firefighting equipment and ensure resident evacuation of the building.
Prepare food daily as outlined on the weekly menu plan.
Assist with menu planning; review and adjust menus with supervisor to accommodate foods in season, vendor sale prices, special events and holidays.
Adhere to all Human Resources and facility policy and procedures.
Follow established Infection Control and Universal Precautions policy and procedure when performing daily tasks.
