Advertising Summary: VCU Athletics is seeking a graduate assistant to assist in the day-to-day operations of the Communications area during the 2026-27 academic year.

Duties & Responsibilities

Promoting and telling the stories of the VCU Athletic Department’s 17 intercollegiate programs;

Writing features and press releases;

Record keeping and tracking statistics;

Working with some elements of graphic design and participating in some PA, radio, and video work;

Assisting with any media requests for coaches and student-athletes; and

Other projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

Admittance into a graduate program within VCU;

Knowledge of and prior work experience in intercollegiate athletics;

Strong customer service skills, highly organized, and detail-oriented; and

Exceptional verbal and written communication.

Salary Range: Scholarship varies

We ask that graduate students limit their applications to three (3) or four (4) graduate assistant positions of interest. Applicants must be admitted to a VCU graduate program to be eligible for this graduate assistant position.

An applicant who is admitted to VCU’s Center for Sport Leadership (CSL) will receive funding from the VCU Athletics Department if they are selected as the finalist. However, full academic funding is not guaranteed.

There are two (2) open positions within Communications.

These graduate assistant positions for 2026-27 will be open until filled, and review of applications will begin immediately.
