Location
Remote/Virtual. Must live and work in Michigan. Travel and residency required within Region 2 Counties: Emmet, Charlevoix, Leelanau, Benzie, Manistee, Missaukee, Kalkaska, Grand Traverse, Antrim, Montmorency.
Purpose
This position assists with the Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) and No Wrong Door (NWD) programs, providing direct outreach to local agencies and to individuals who may benefit from the services offered in both programs. The role supports Medicare fraud prevention, abuse, and error education for beneficiaries, caregivers, and families.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duty 1:
Present, share, and follow‑up with local agencies about Long‑Term Services and Supports and Medicare Counseling for the MI Options, NWD program.
Working with the MI Options Volunteer Manager, identify local and regional agencies and health‑care systems and conduct virtual or in‑person presentations.
Provide presentations to agencies on the MI Options system, including counseling benefits and agency involvement.
Follow‑up with agencies to provide additional contact information, resources, and connections to other MI Options staff.
Input data into the SHIP Tracking and Reporting System (STARS).
Duty 2:
Provide local outreach on prevention of Medicare fraud, abuse, and errors for the SMP program.
Working with the SMP Fraud Analyst, identify local and regional agencies such as senior centers and other organizations to provide community outreach.
Deliver presentations on protecting against Medicare fraud, scams, and abuse.
Follow‑up with agencies to provide additional contact information, resources, and connections to other MI Options staff.
Input data into the SMP Intake and Reporting System (SIRS).
Duty 3:
Always represent the best interests of MPHI and MDHHS.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
One year of administrative support activities, equivalent to the 7‑level in state service.
Important Skills and Characteristics:
Comfortable and effective communication and presentation in front of large groups.
Adaptability to different audiences.
Timeliness and organizational skills for successful presentations.
Ability to interact and converse amicably with people from all backgrounds and abilities.
Phone coordination and scheduling skills.
Presentation skills.
Attention to detail for appropriate documentation.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Regular use of computers and extensive regional travel to senior centers, community centers, religious institutions, and other locations to provide presentations on long‑term supports and Medicare fraud prevention. Presents may last up to an hour in front of audiences, requiring transport of computers, presentation equipment, and materials.
