Job Summary

The Engineering Records Specialist II supports the Engineering Records team by collecting, updating, and maintaining accurate technical drawings and documentation for pipelines, facilities, and mechanical systems. This role requires hands-on experience with AutoCAD, a strong understanding of piping, pipeline, instrumentation & electrical, and mechanical drafting standards, and familiarity with alignment sheets and pipeline system schematics. The position collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure engineering records remain accurate, consistent, and compliant throughout the asset lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities

AutoCAD Drafting & Design
Revise and maintain piping, mechanical, pipeline alignment, and instrumentation & electrical drawings using AutoCAD.
Review and edit drawings such as PFDs, P&IDs, general equipment layouts, facility plot plans, and equipment/instrument lists in accordance with established standards.
Identify, package, and maintain pipeline alignment sheets, horizontal directional drill documentation, and related records for operational and regulatory use.
Process drawing updates, transfers, and revisions following defined procedures.
Extract and organize drawing metadata including equipment lists, valve lists, instrument lists, and data sheets.
Maintain accurate records of document changes, transmittals, correspondence, and drawing history.
Support multiple projects concurrently, coordinating drafting and design inputs with internal stakeholders and third-party partners.
Participate in project meetings to understand scope, gather data, and provide drafting-related input.
Communicate with vendors or external drafters to resolve CAD issues such as missing or conflicting external references.
Assist with file bundling, transmittals, distribution packages, and preparation for project kickoff or handover.
Required Qualifications

3+ years of drafting and design experience using AutoCAD.
Demonstrated experience interpreting and maintaining piping drawings, mechanical drawings, pipeline schematics, and alignment sheets.
Ability to read and interpret engineering documents including P&IDs, PFDs, plot plans, and pipeline route data.
Ability to manage multiple drafting tasks across concurrent projects.
Strong understanding of industry drafting practices for industrial, plant, or pipeline environments.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience working within engineering document management systems.
Preferred Qualifications

Technical diploma or two-year degree in drafting, design technology, or a related field.
Prior experience in midstream oil & gas, pipeline operations, or facility design.
Familiarity with CAD standards, data extraction, and drawing quality assurance processes.
Interest in utilizing software enhancements or automation to streamline routine tasks.
Experience with conduit, cable schedules, tagging, and instrumentation & electrical coordination.
This is a W2 position not open to 1099/C2C employment.
