Maintenance Engineer to provide direct line and maintenance engineering support for Engine Assembly operations, with additional support for Axle Assembly as needed. This role includes a mix of daily production support and project?based work, requiring strong technical and process ownership to meet current and future production demands. Direct interaction with line supervisors, skilled trades, and the hourly workforce is required to ensure adherence to work methods and production metrics.

Location: Detroit Manufacturing Plant – Redford, MI (100% onsite, plant?floor support)
Shift Time:
Midnights (MIDS): 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM (2 openings)
Afternoons (AFTS): 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM (1 opening) Please specify on the resume which shift(s) you are applying for.
Pay Rate: $50.75/hour with benefits
Responsibilities

Provide maintenance engineering support for Engine Assembly processes; support Axle Assembly on an as needed basis
Review station level drawings and Bills of Material (BOMs); develop recommended spare parts lists
Develop and implement Preventive Maintenance procedures for existing and future equipment
Support daily troubleshooting of tooling and equipment breakdowns, working in escalation with Skilled Trades
Develop and implement tooling for product changes
Develop and implement assembly process methods and improvements
Procure equipment by coordinating with purchasing and external vendors
Provide occasional supervision of Skilled Trades
Act as a technical problem solver and coach for assemblers and supervisors
Stay current with industry and technology advancements
Support overtime, weekend, and holiday production coverage as part of a rotating schedule
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology OR 8+ years of applicable experience in lieu of a degree
Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience in an assembly environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cross functionally
Understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and methods of manufacture
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with PC hardware and Windows-based software
Ability to work off-shift schedules and support overtime/weekend coverage
Preferred

1+ year of project management or supervisory experience
AutoCAD LT experience
Exposure to automated assembly environments, including robotics (KUKA or FANUC)
Familiarity with PLC driven equipment and automated tooling systems
Experience supporting fastening systems and torque tooling
Familiarity with pressing operations (Kistler and/or Promess hardware)
Experience working in a union manufacturing environment
