Using excellent customer service and communication skills, your primary duties in this role include:
Assist clinics with verifying eligibility, providing guidance on insurance benefits, and providing medical policies as needed. Document physician direct referrals, pre‑certification, and authorizations of certain services defined by the patient’s health insurance plan via phone, fax, or written requests.
Identify and request referrals/authorizations. Communicate referrals or insurance issues to clinical staff. Respond promptly to clinical requests.
Other duties as assigned.
Hiring range, based on experience and credentials:
Level I: $22.49–$30.43 per hour.
Level II: $24.74–$33.47 per hour.
Level III: $27.21–$36.82 per hour.
Workdays:
This role is based at the Central Administration Office. Hybrid/Remote work is available once training is completed and expectations are met. Must live in Portland or the SW Washington area to come on‑site to support projects as needed. Typical hours are Monday‑Friday (8:00 am‑4:30 pm) or possibly four 10‑hour shifts, with a day off TBD (6:30 am‑4:00 pm or 7:00 am‑5:30 pm).
Qualifications that support success in this role are based on education, experience, and values including:
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a healthcare setting, healthcare insurance company, or managed care organization.
Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a referral/authorization coordinator is strongly preferred.
Prior Electronic Medical Record (EPIC) experience is strongly preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT procedure, and ICD‑9 coding is preferred.
Strong analytical, organizational, and time‑management skills.
Demonstrated ability to initiate, work independently, and effectively multitask.
Positive attitude and desire to be a team player.
Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with patients, physicians, and other team members.
