
Quality Inspection Supervisor

Position Purpose
Under the guidance of the Quality Manager, a Quality Inspection Supervisor will act as the focal point for both Quality Inspectors and FAI technicians. They will be responsible for maintaining and communicating the progress of the group to both the department and throughout Vaupell. The Quality Inspection Supervisor will be a resource for the team and constantly strive for continuous improvement both in and outside of the Quality Assurance Department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Support inspection and FAI team to interpret inspection and specification requirements, engineering, and internal procedures.
Liaison between inspection, manufacturing, and the leadership chain.
Understand and communicate inspector performance to the QAManager.
Schedule source inspections for designated jobs.
Maintain the QA daily management board – updates QA metrics.
Attend weekly Gemba walks as a QA representative and may represent QA as a delegate for other meetings as assigned.
Inspect parts using handheld M&TE and visual techniques along with GD&T.
Communicate requirements of lot sampling, work orders, and work instructions, as well as verbal instruction.
Accept / Reject parts based on quality plans.
Disposition of nonconforming parts.
Process parts physically and electronically using Vaupell software – generate NCRs for discrepant parts.
Create inspection records to validate QA procedures.
Perform internal audits of cells to ensure adherence to quality procedures and the QMS.
Support Nadcap, customer, and internal audits of the QA processes and procedures.
Perform first article inspections and support FAI team.
Train new team members in the quality processes, values, and standards.
Work with supervisors / leads on corrective and preventative actions, as well as root cause analysis of issues with parts.
Understand and promote QA’s values and culture.
Work effectively with all levels within the organization to resolve conflicting priorities and obtain cooperation to expediently achieve company goals.
Work with team members to develop and achieve their goals of personal and professional growth.
Responsible for following all Vaupell policies and standard operating procedures and safety practices.
Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications / Requirements
High School Diploma/GED, associate's degree desired.
5 years’ experience as a Team Leader/Supervisor.
5+ years aerospace inspection / FAI work experience, or a combination of quality inspection experience.
Must have relevant technical skills including basic math concepts and understanding of units of measure, problem solving and corrective action implementation skills.
Personal time management and capability to ensure area goals and tasks adherence to production schedules.
Passion for continuous improvement within the department and the company.
Vocal advocate of the company and all its employees.
Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills to lead Vaupell employees and interact with customers and suppliers.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret aerospace drawings and standards.
Proficiency with inspection of plastic parts, from both a visual and dimensional standpoint.
Excellent computer skills, especially with Microsoft Office programs.
Familiarity with Vaupell software (i.e. uniPoint, FourthShift, Sharepoint, etc.) a plus.
Advanced understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Ability to read, speak, understand and follow instructions in English.
Must be able to wear and properly use the required personal protective equipment.
Candidates must be a “US Person” (i.e. US Citizen or Permanent Resident) to ensure Vaupell's compliance with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and EAR (Export Administration Regulations).
Environmental Condition
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
