Job Scope
The facility Process Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting problems with chemical manufacturing processes in the facility.
Supports facility projects and commissions process improvements.
Evaluates process equipment and processes to identify ways to optimize performance and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Designs replacement equipment and plans layout of new equipment.
Designs monitoring and control systems improvements based on data trending and analysis.
Directs process standardization, automation, and improvement for the Huntsman Building Solutions Facility.
In Summary, As The Process Engineer, You Will
Active, vocal participant and advocate for the facility safety culture. Act as an enthusiastic leader to ensure the safety of all facility employees.
Member of Facility Leadership team, working together to achieve plant level KPIs.
Conduct research to develop and streamline processes for manufacturing.
Evaluate processes and equipment to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
Conduct inspections and identify potential hazards, devising and executing solutions to remove workplace hazards.
Implement a behavioral based safety culture and processes that will include 5S.
Plan equipment layout.
Develop routines and best practices to ensure product quality.
Keep abreast of the latest EHS trends, policies, regulations, and best practices.
Work with all plant functions to generate and maintain appropriate process documents and standard operating procedures. Drive MOC process as needed to address all plant activities.
Estimate production costs.
Lead and assist maintenance in resolving equipment malfunctions, troubleshooting process problems, and organize/implement preventative maintenance procedures.
Perform optimization tests.
Be a results‑oriented problem solver in an ever‑changing environment with strong troubleshooting skills.
Utilize process simulation software to test and find the most appropriate production strategies.
Act as a leader in facility operations excellence objectives.
Drive facility automation and data acquisition strategies.
Work with leadership team to develop and monitor the capital and expense budgets.
Perform various duties as assigned.
Qualifications
You must possess the minimum qualifications below to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering degree.
Minimum of 7+ years of experience in Process Engineering or Chemical Engineering applicable field experience.
Knowledge and experience with creating, reviewing, and implementing standard operating procedures.
Knowledge and experience with PLC and/or DCS driven operations.
Knowledge and experience in batch chemical blending operations.
Applicable experience in EHS standards related to specialty chemical manufacturing.
Skills And Knowledge
Knowledge of chemical composition and properties of the chemicals used and an understanding of the chemical reactions they undergo.
Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and costs.
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in processing chemicals from raw materials to final products.
Awareness of all assigned processes, including auxiliary units.
Knowledge of geometry, calculus, probability, statistics, and their applications.
Trained in or capable of learning Aspen simulation software, advanced Excel techniques, regression analysis, and developing and understanding PFDs and P&IDs.
Ability to lead and teach process improvement culture.
Ability to develop and conduct training programs related to general manufacturing processes for the facility workforce.
Strong leadership skills.
Effective communication at all levels of the business organization and plant.
Advanced knowledge of production machinery and processes.
General familiarity with applicable EHS standards related to specialty chemical manufacturing.
The ability to read and interpret safety data sheets.
Preferred Qualifications
Assist in improving and optimizing operations at the facility.
Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
Choose the right mathematical methods and formulas to solve a problem.
