Power Generation Electrician

Responsibilities

Perform installation, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of low- and medium-voltage electrical systems supporting power generation assets, including generators, switchgear, transformers, MCCs, UPS systems, protection devices, and auxiliary electrical equipment.
Conduct electrical terminations, cable routing, panel wiring, and equipment installation according to drawings, specifications, and commissioning plans.
Carry out electrical testing such as insulation resistance (megger), continuity, voltage/current measurements, phasing, and functional verification.
Troubleshoot electrical faults, identify root causes, and implement safe, effective corrective actions to restore system performance.
Ensure all work complies with OSHA, NEC, NFPA 70E, company safety policies, and site-specific procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and energized work controls.
Verify installation quality and operational readiness prior to energization or system turnover.
Participate in pre-job planning, hazard analysis, and safety briefings to ensure safe work execution.
Document work performed, diagnostic steps, and parts used in the company's Computerized Maintenance Management System.
Demonstrate safety consciousness and willingness to use stop work authority when necessary.
Perform general housekeeping and routine maintenance of company property, including service vehicle and trailer.
Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies by attending all required HSE training sessions, safety meetings, and utilizing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safe driving practices.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required; technical college training preferred.
Minimum 2 years of medium voltage electrical experience.
Previous field experience with data centers, micro-grids, mining, or industrial construction.
Certified Journeyman Electrician or Master Electrician preferred.
Familiarity with NEC / Country codes.
Knowledge of OSHA / Code requirements.
Basic understanding of natural gas reciprocating and turbine engines.
Fundamental knowledge of control systems and instrumentation.
Understanding of power generators and electricity.
Awareness of network protocols and communication devices.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to interact professionally with clients and team members.
Personable with good rapport-building skills.
Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage time effectively.
Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications and quick to learn relevant software.
Physically capable of sitting or standing for long periods, working indoors and outdoors, and enduring extreme weather conditions.
Able to operate a company vehicle safely in various conditions.
