Flint Hills Resources is seeking a Construction Manager/Inspector to support our Wisconsin Pipeline, Minnesota Pipeline, Wood River Pipeline, and Asphalt facilities. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring jobsite safety, environmental compliance, coordination of contractors, and the mechanical integrity of installed equipment.

This position requires flexibility for travel, with an expected travel commitment of 75 to 90 percent based on the candidate’s location. The selected candidate can be based in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, Illinois, or Iowa.

What You Will Do

Inspect construction and maintenance projects according to FHR Pipeline’s and Terminal’s Technical Guidelines and applicable regulations.

Adhere to safety guidelines and standards and follow safety rules and regulations to promote a positive safety culture.

Adhere to environmental standards and environmental awareness.

Control cost and schedule of projects in area of responsibility.

Make responsible decisions in the field for the required work to be accomplished.

Ensure no leaks, spills, or releases.

Physical Requirements

Physical ability to frequently stand, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, reach, handle, bend, twist, climb and balance. Also occasional sit, kneel, crouch and crawl.

Ability and willingness to utilize personal protective equipment (e.g., hard hat, safety glasses, fire‑retardant clothing, respirator, safety work boots).

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (with frequent carrying of up to 25 pounds).

Respond to audio alarms or other loud noises indicating a safety concern.

Communicate hazardous conditions and other dangers.

Work near moving mechanical parts, in wet or humid conditions (non‑weather), outdoor weather conditions, high precarious places, and around fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

5+ years of experience in pipeline construction and repair related work.

Valid driver’s license.

Willingness to travel up to 75‑90%, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Willing and able to meet physical requirements.

What Will Put You Ahead

2+ years of experience working on pipeline, terminal repair projects involving pipeline nondestructive testing evaluations, tanks, repair, and maintenance.

Experience with inspecting, applying industrial coatings & linings, knowledge of excavation standards and requirements.

Experience with tank construction and inspection codes (API 650,653), pipe fabricating practices and related codes (API 1104, B31.4, B31.3) and working knowledge of OSHA confined space requirements.

Familiarity with 4‑gas air monitoring and benzene monitoring equipment.

Two‑year Vocational Technical (Mechanical or Welding) or Construction Science degree.

For this role, we anticipate paying $100,000 – $140,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.

This role is not eligible for Visa Sponsorship.

This role is subject to a pre‑hire medical test.
