
Diesel Mechanic

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assists with troubleshooting and repair of all mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
Assists with preventative maintenance on all trucks, trailers, and yard equipment
Maintain and repair all company equipment to the best possible condition to avoid downtime
Repair, troubleshoot, and/or replace all defective parts
Provides assistance with scheduled preventative maintenance
Lubricate and clean parts
Start up and operate devices and machines to test performance
Maintain clean and organized maintenance areas
Operate overhead crane, aerial lifts, and hi‑lo when needed
Know, understand, and follow all lockout procedures
Basic Qualifications
A degree or certification in electrical/mechanical maintenance or at least two years of experience in a manufacturing or construction environment
Welding certification(s)
Crane, aerial lift, and hi‑lo operation permits
Other Required Qualifications
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Should have knowledge of inventory, manufacturing, spreadsheet, and word‑processing software
Preferred Qualifications
Journeyman electrician, millwright, and CDL‑A
Physical Requirements
Plant/Yard: Move a minimum of 50 lb., spatial awareness/depth perception, walk, climb, bend at the waist, reach, forceful use of hand tools, vocal projection
Work Environment
Plant/Yard: All types of weather conditions (year‑round, Midwest and Northeast), dirt/dust, noise from heavy machinery/vehicles, vibrations from machinery and vehicles, loud noises, little to no climate control, varying amounts of light, stairs, narrow walkways
