Position Summary
STS Technical Services is seeking an Apprentice Maintenance Planner to support a Part 121 cargo airline operation in Ypsilanti, Michigan. This entry-level role is designed for individuals looking to build a career in aircraft maintenance planning by learning how to monitor, schedule, and coordinate maintenance activities in a regulated aviation environment.
You will work within the AMOS system and alongside experienced planners to support maintenance scheduling, reporting, and documentation. This is a hands‑on learning role that builds the foundation for long‑term growth in aviation maintenance planning.
Job Responsibilities
Assist in preparing work scopes, work packages, and work orders for scheduled maintenance checks
Support research of maintenance task history and documentation
Assist in maintaining materials lists, including parts and tooling pre‑draw requirements
Monitor aircraft utilization data including flight hours, flight cycles, and schedules as directed
Track time remaining on scheduled maintenance tasks, including time‑controlled components
Assist in producing hard time and life limit reports for aircraft, engines, and components
Maintain AD and SB documentation libraries and assist with manual updates
Support auditing of maintenance work packages for accuracy and compliance
Assist in updating maintenance planning forecasts, reports, and logs
Create reports and documentation using Microsoft Word and Excel
Perform additional duties as assigned by Maintenance Planning leadership
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
General knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Good communication skills and ability to work within a team environment
Self‑motivated with a willingness to learn and grow in aviation
Preferred Qualifications
Experience or coursework in aviation maintenance
General knowledge of large aircraft systems and structures including Boeing 747, 767, or 777
Familiarity with aircraft maintenance manuals such as AMM, CMM, IPC, and MPD
Experience interpreting Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, or Engineering Orders
FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification or equivalent military experience
Reporting Structure
Reports directly to the Maintenance Planning Manager or Supervisor
