This role exists to support ongoing aerospace production demand across complex multi-axis milling operations. At Barnes Aerospace, this position plays a key role in machining precision aerospace components with a strong focus on quality, consistency, and craftsmanship.
The Work You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will:
Set up and operate CNC multi-axis milling machines in a high-precision aerospace environment
Run complex milling jobs with minimal supervision while ensuring parts meet print and process requirements
Perform job changeovers and make adjustments as needed to maintain part quality
Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and operation sheets
Work with standard and geometric tolerances on aerospace components
Verify dimensions using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, depth gages, height gages, and dial calipers
Hold tight tolerances on precision machined parts
Support repeat production work while maintaining quality and throughput
Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to solve machining issues and keep work moving
Machines, Controls & Software
You’ll work with equipment such as:
Machines:
Multi-axis CNC milling machines, including equipment from Doosan, Mazak, Okuma, Matsuura, Mori Seiki, and Johnford
Controls:
Fanuc and other CNC controls depending on machine
Inspection Tools:
Micrometers, depth gages, height gages, dial calipers, and other standard precision measuring tools
Materials You’ll Work With
Stainless Steel
Titanium
Inconel
Other aerospace alloys
What We’re Looking For
Required
3+ years of experience setting up and operating CNC multi-axis milling machines
Strong blueprint reading skills and understanding of GD&T
Experience performing job setups and changeovers on CNC equipment
Strong mechanical aptitude and solid math skills
Ability to hold tight tolerances and inspect your own work
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a team-based aerospace manufacturing environment
Preferred (Not Required)
Aerospace manufacturing experience
Experience machining larger precision parts
Experience with multi-axis milling in a high-precision environment
