This role exists to support precision aerospace manufacturing programs requiring advanced grinding operations. At Barnes Aerospace, this position plays a key role in finishing complex components to tight tolerances using high-efficiency deep grinding (HEDG) and other precision grinding processes.
The Work You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will:
Set up and operate CNC grinding machines in a precision aerospace environment
Perform high-efficiency deep grinding (HEDG) and other grinding operations
Machine components to tight tolerances and exact specifications
Make program edits, offset adjustments, and tooling changes as needed
Read and interpret blueprints, operation sheets, and work instructions
Verify dimensions using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, depth gages, height gages, and verniers
Perform in-process inspection to ensure part quality and compliance
Work with exotic materials including
Inconel, Rene, and other aerospace alloys
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve machining and quality issues

You’ll work with equipment such as:
Machines:
CNC grinding machines, including HEDG and precision grinding equipment (Campbell grinders and similar)
Controls:
Fanuc and other CNC control systems depending on equipment
Inspection Tools:
Micrometers, depth gages, height gages, verniers, and other precision measuring tools
Materials You’ll Work With

Stainless Steel
Other aerospace-grade materials
What We’re Looking For
Required
3+ years of CNC grinding or machining experience
Experience setting up and operating CNC equipment
Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T
Strong mechanical aptitude and math skills
Experience working with tight tolerances
Ability to use precision measuring tools
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team environment
Preferred (Not Required)
Experience with HEDG or precision grinding operations
Aerospace manufacturing experience
Experience machining exotic materials such as Inconel or Rene alloys
Familiarity with Fanuc controls
