Position Overview
Position Title: SLA Facilitator (Student Position). Location: Big Rapids, MI. This student employment role involves organizing and facilitating weekly Structured Learning Assistance (SLA) workshops, including clarifying course concepts, incorporating study skills, generating notes from lecture/lab, preparing workshop materials, meeting with course faculty, and meeting with the Program Coordinator. Responsibilities also include adhering to program policies and keeping appropriate workshop records.

Key Responsibilities

Organize and lead weekly SLA workshops.

Clarify course concepts and facilitate note‑taking.

Prepare workshop materials and maintain workshop records.

Meet with faculty and the Program Coordinator to coordinate content.

Enforce program rules and policies; maintain confidentiality.

Meet deadlines and maintain organized course/workshop notebooks.

Interact professionally with diverse faculty, students, and staff.

Qualifications and Requirements

Minimum: Two years of college coursework, an Associate Degree, or comparable work‑related experience in the subject area or teaching/training/tutoring experience.

Excellent public speaking and communication skills.

Strong time management, organization, and ability to enforce program rules.

In‑depth knowledge of subject material.

Ability to model professional behavior commonly attributed to successful students.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or upper‑level BS student in subject content area with GPA over 3.5.

Experience with SLA workshops.
