Production Lead - 2nd Shift
Schedule: 3:30 PM – 12:30 AM. Days off: Wednesday & Thursday.

Responsibilities

Guide a line or table of production associates during portioning, meal bagging/kitting, and shipping.

Obtain production plans and targets from the supervisor and set up the production tables before the shift begins.

Collaborate with the Supervisor to secure the daily production plans and targets.

Follow production schedules to ensure order completion within allotted timeframes.

Communicate targets, expectations, and performance feedback to production associates.

Ensure associates follow Home Chef policies and procedures; escalates concerns to the Production Supervisor.

Prioritize and plan for potential product shortages; communicate exact product and quantity needs to the warehouse runners to avoid downtime.

Conduct ingredient checks for quality, accuracy, and shelf life before and during the line.

Have a working knowledge of all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for portioning, meal bagging/kitting, and shipping.

Set up portioning tables, meal bagging tables, and shipping lines according to SOPs.

Consider production targets and the established plan when setting up tables; determine required staffing.

Share recommendations for SOP improvements with the supervisor.

Verify that tables and pods have the necessary labels, packaging, and products at shift start.

Communicate production targets and expected rates per hour to associates.

Prevent overproduction that causes food waste; oversee waste reduction during portioning and bagging.

Ensure no unnecessary waste of food or packaging; report concerns to FSQA and the supervisor.

Oversee all portioning and meal bagging/kitting activities for assigned table/pod, ensuring all sections listed on the production sheet are completed.

Collaborate with FSQA to verify ingredients and perform meal bag sign-offs before starting the line.

Work with FSQA to conduct meal bag checks every hour to minimize errors.

Retrieve and check labels, ensuring correct packaging and labeling for ingredients.

Perform hourly checks on portions and meal bags to reduce errors.

Monitor pace of the line and adjust to meet target if necessary.

Assist the Production Supervisor when running a shipping line; maintain knowledge of all shipping runs.

Use the Boxing Call out Sheet to set up and verify shipping lines.

Ensure proper SOP adherence during shipping, including transitions between similar runs.

Collaborate with warehouse to prevent downtime due to product shortages.

Deliver hourly or bi‑hourly output counts to the Supervisor.

Ensure inventory crates are clearly labeled and old labels are removed.

Tag completed portion and meal bag towers according to SOP (e.g., plastic wrap or masking tape).

Move meal bag towers to proper storage, ordering by date using FIFO processes.

Enforce Home Chef Food Safety Policies on the production floor.

Ensure FSQA conducts GMP checks at shift start and after lunch.

Call out and correct GMP violations promptly.

Educate associates on GMPs, including glove changes, hand washing, and hairnet usage.

Ensure associates use proper lifting techniques when moving items.

Attend all safety trainings and maintain safety compliance.

Escalate employee safety risks to the Safety Supervisor.

Account for team during roll call and evacuation procedures.

Ensure work areas are cleaned and sanitized, including tables, floors, and coolers.

Maintain plant cleanliness, 5S compliance, and GMP practices at all times.

Resolve conflicts between associates calmly and quickly.

Escalate unresolved issues to the production supervisor or manager.

Qualifications

General high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

Strong attendance and performance record as a Home Chef production associate.
