
Summer Intern Human Resources - Central Office, Hayward

Position Summary
Eden Housing is seeking a summer Human Resources Intern to assist in our corporate office on a wide range of administrative tasks and special projects supporting the Human Resources Team. The individual will receive general supervision and guidance from more experienced team members. This position is an in‑person role at the Central Office in Hayward, CA, and is not eligible for remote work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Support recruiting coordination tasks such as interview scheduling, candidate communications, and maintaining applicant tracking records.
Assist with onboarding logistics (new‑hire paperwork checklists, orientation materials, and setup coordination) while maintaining confidentiality.
Help keep employee files and HR systems organized and up to date (digital filing, data entry, and document quality checks).
Support employee engagement initiatives (survey administration support, event logistics, recognition programs) and track participation as needed.
Assist with drafting and formatting internal HR communications (job postings, onboarding emails, policy reminders) using approved templates.
Provide general administrative support (meeting notes, mailings, spreadsheet updates, and special projects) to help the HR team meet deadlines.
Support basic HR reporting and auditing (tracking training completion, updating dashboards, and verifying data accuracy).
Maintain professionalism and strict confidentiality when handling sensitive employee information.

Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
Experience handling confidential information.
Experience with tracking tools such as Excel, Smartsheet or Notion.
Currently studying toward a certificate or degree in Human Resources or a related field.
Preferred Skills and/or Abilities
Ability to exercise tact and maintain confidentiality, show initiative, and be a team player.
Experience with Word or Excel a plus.
Experience analyzing data a plus.
Ability to relate professionally to staff and interact with a diverse population.
Knowledge and interest in affordable housing.
Actively participate in our culture of inclusivity.
Must have access to reliable transportation to travel to Eden properties, training sites, and retail stores during the business day.

Ability to write simple correspondence.

Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, sit and use hands, reach with hands and arms, and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must also perform writing/typing, use a computer and paper files, answer phones, and attend meetings.
