Summary of Role
GlobalFoundries in Essex, VT is seeking a
Sr. Facilities Technician
to support Bulk Gas in the Facilities organization. This is a fully on-site role during the daytime Monday–Friday, with some shared weekend coverage with the team. This person will be responsible for the safe, reliable, and continuous operation of bulk gas systems supporting and collaborating with manufacturing. This technician will perform routine inspections, monitor system performance, respond to alarms, execute bulk changeovers, and manage inventory and vendor coordination to ensure uninterrupted gas supply while supporting reliability, capacity, and cost-efficiency initiatives.
Essential Responsibilities
Ensure continuous, uninterrupted gas supply to manufacturing
Perform routine inspections and detailed walkthroughs of bulk gas yards, storage areas, and distribution systems to verify equipment condition, identify potential issues, and ensure compliance with operational and safety standards
Monitor, trend, and document key system parameters including pressure, flow, purity, and availability to support system reliability, early issue detection, and data‑driven decision making
Execute bulk system changeovers, truck connections, and operational transitions in a safe, controlled manner to maintain continuous supply and minimize impact to manufacturing
Respond promptly to system alarms and abnormal conditions, troubleshooting equipment and controls, coordinating repairs, and escalating issues as necessary to restore normal operation
Manage bulk gas inventory and logistics, including coordination with suppliers and vendors, scheduling deliveries, and maintaining appropriate on‑site inventory levels
Support reliability, capacity planning, and cost‑efficiency initiatives by participating in continuous improvement efforts, system upgrades, and optimization projects
Other Responsibilities
Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs
Other duties as assigned by manager / supervisor
Required Qualifications
Education – High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience - Minimum 5 years in high purity gas distribution, water treatment and/or water purification, HVAC, and/or related experience
Fluency in English Language, both written and verbal
Strong written & verbal communication
Physical Capacity Demands – ability to lift 30 lbs. and wear a respirator, stand/walk for long periods of time
Wear a cleanroom suit and personal protective equipment for cleanroom environment, as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Education - 2 Year associate's degree in technical or related field
6+ years' experience, and/or education, in facilities systems such as high purity gas distribution, water treatment, water purification, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, chilled water and glycol chilled water, compressed air, chemical distribution, and control systems is desirable
Project management skills - i.e., the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity
Strong planning & organizational skills
Salary
Expected Salary Range: $48,200.00 - $83,200.00
