Job Summary
The Maintenance Assistant supports the overall upkeep and maintenance of the apartment community. This role ensures that units, common areas, and grounds are safe, functional, and well-maintained. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and able to perform a variety of repair and maintenance tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with routine maintenance and repairs in apartments and common areas (e.g., plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry).
Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
Conduct regular inspections of buildings, equipment, and grounds.
Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance inventory.
Support preventative maintenance programs.
Ensure all work complies with safety standards and regulations.
Assist with groundskeeping tasks such as trash removal, landscaping, and snow/ice removal (if applicable).
Report major repair needs or safety concerns to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous maintenance or handyman experience is a plus.
EPA Certification (Section 608) or HVAC license required.
Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general repair.
Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and climbing.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Work Schedule
Full-time
On-call hours for emergency maintenance.
