Senior Accountant

We're seeking a Senior Accountant with P&C insurance experience and strong familiarity with statutory accounting (NAIC Yellow Book). You will play a key role in our monthly close process, statutory reporting, account reconciliations, and overall financial reporting accuracy. This is a high‑visibility role that partners closely with FP&A, Actuarial, Reinsurance, and Operations.

You'll help enhance internal controls, streamline accounting processes, and contribute to critical financial reporting in a fast‑growing environment where your work will have immediate impact.

Key Responsibilities

Lead components of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial results.

Prepare, review, and maintain statutory reporting (including NAIC Yellow Book schedules, statements, footnotes, and supporting documentation).

Perform detailed account reconciliations, including cash, loss reserves, unearned premium, reinsurance recoverables, and other core P&C accounts.

Support the preparation of GAAP, Statutory, and management financial reporting packages.

Partner with FP&A, Actuarial, Underwriting, Claims, and Reinsurance to ensure financial inputs and outputs are accurate and aligned.

Assist in the implementation and enhancement of internal controls, documentation, and SOX/MAR‑related processes.

Contribute to process improvement initiatives, automation efforts, and system enhancement projects across the finance function.

Support regulatory filings, audits (internal/external), and inquiries from state insurance departments.

Analyze financial trends, fluctuations, and variances to identify risks, opportunities, and improvements.

Participate in new product launches, system upgrades, and accounting process buildouts as the company scales.

Qualifications
Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

3-7+ years of accounting experience within P&C insurance (carrier experience preferred).

Strong knowledge of statutory accounting principles (SAP), including Yellow Book preparation.

Experience with monthly close, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.

Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, v‑lookup, modeling basics).

Detail‑oriented with strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities.

Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.

Preferred

Experience with automation tools, cloud‑based accounting systems, or insurance‑specific financial systems.

Exposure to SOX, MAR, or other internal control frameworks.

Experience in high‑growth or tech‑enabled environments.

Strong communication skills with the ability to present findings to leadership.
