If so, our client, Strategic Equity Investors, a Chicago-based real estate investment firm and nationwide owner/operator of mission critical governmental buildings and medical facilities, seeks an in-house controller who is equally comfortable operating strategically and rolling up their sleeves to manage day-to-day execution.

How You’ll Contribute
Oversee all accounting and treasury management activities; lead monthly close process including reconciliations, prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Manage all lender-required and third-party reporting; maintain strong external partner relationships.
Oversee bank accounts, cash management, and banking relationships.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and liquidity planning, including tracking performance against budgets and pro formas.
Handle investor distributions and capital calls, maintain models of liquidity/cash flow.
Perform financial and quantitative analyses, including asset-level reporting, reforecasts, and investment-related analyses.
Coordinate with third-party professional service providers-property and asset management, tax, insurance, IT, payroll, and benefits.
Support investment activity from acquisition through disposition, including related accounting and reporting needs.
Assist in the review of tax filings, including K-1s.
Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures across the organization and with external service providers.
About YOU!
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA license preferred.
5+ years of accounting within the real estate industry.
Strong financial modeling skills and proficiency with Excel.
Proficiency with NetSuite strongly preferred.
Familiarity with AI-based productivity tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) and a willingness to integrate them into accounting and finance workflows preferred.
