Job Overview
The Tax Associate supports a variety of tax-related activities, including tax preparation, responding to IRS notices, and providing software support such as QuickBooks. This role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to deliver accurate and timely results while maintaining positive client relationships.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Tax Preparation Accuracy
Tax Preparation Efficiency: Target of 210 returns per year
Turnaround Time: Based on complexity score
Core Responsibilities / Key Duties
Perform tax preparation tasks, including gathering client information, preparing tax returns, and ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
Prepare tax returns for individuals, businesses, and other entities with accuracy and compliance in mind.
Draft and submit responses to IRS notices and inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate resolution of tax-related issues.
Maintain strong client relationships by serving as a primary point of contact and presenting tax-related information as needed.
Provide QuickBooks support and guidance to clients as needed.
Growth Targets / Professional Development
Actively pursuing CPA or EA designation.
Demonstrate consistent efficiency in tax preparation.
Achieve minimal review comments on prepared returns.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
1–3 years of tax preparation experience.
Familiarity with QuickBooks and other tax preparation software.
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
