Tax Compliance Support Specialist
The Tax Compliance Support Specialist assists with the accurate and timely preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns. This role supports tax audits, maintains organized records, and ensures compliance by reviewing data, reconciling accounts, and communicating with internal teams and tax authorities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in preparation, review, and submission of federal, state, and local tax returns (including income, sales, use, and property taxes) accurately and on time.
Gather, organize, scan, and process tax documents, ensuring accuracy in data entry and storage.
Assist with external tax audits, preparing documentation, responding to tax notices, and assisting with compliance across all departments.
Ability to maintain accurate tax records and reconcile tax accounts.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
High school diploma or equivalent
Associate's degree or relevant certification with prior administrative support experience preferred
14 years of experience in tax compliance or accounting preferred
Proficiency in tax compliance software (e.g., Vertex, Avalara) preferred
Advanced Excel skills
High accuracy in processing data to avoid penalties and legal issues
Ability to accurately review tax forms and financial records to detect errors.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with internal employees, customers and tax authorities.
Ability to exercise independent judgment and solve problems under pressure.
Successful completion of credit check.
Successful completion of pre-employment background and drug screening.
Fosters good coworker citizenship and contributes to a positive work environment.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Prolonged periods sitting at desk and working on a computer
Ability to lift, move, and carry objects to 15 lbs.
Exposure to office environment noise, dirt, and dust
