
Maintenance SMET

As a Maintenance SMET at the Valero Texas City Refinery, you will perform and coordinate condition monitoring, troubleshooting, assessments, and repairs of rotating equipment. Along with that you will, update equipment files through the MOCA system, attend operation’s planning meetings, and act as liaison between the Maintenance and Reliability Department to support operations, maintenance, projects, turnaround, and process group’s requirements. Responsibilities
Assists Planners with developing specific rotating equipment repair tasks.
Makes provisions during equipment repair to upgrade necessary components to improve reliability.
Assists and trains operators in equipment start-up/shut-down procedures.
Assists Operations, Product Control, and Maintenance Departments in developing procedures, training, and processes to ensure equipment is operated within its design parameters.
Supervises contractors involved in providing maintenance and reliability services.
Oversees and coordinates the installation and start-up of major rotating equipment.
Reviews and updates existing and new equipment bill of material (BOM) sheets for proper sparing.
Assists the Reliability Department in developing comprehensive spare parts list for equipment.
Provides outside shop visits and QA/QC services for out-sourced repairs.
Gathers data on rotating equipment.
Provides analysis and reporting of machinery condition and equipment performance.
Reviews work orders associated with rotating equipment before work is scheduled.
Assists Operations personnel/Maintenance craftsmen with rotating equipment issues.
Communicates properly to different people in the organization.
Makes rotating equipment decisions based on gathered performance data.
Writes status reports as required using e-mail or MS Office software.
Evaluates rotating equipment reliability using SAP.
Provides troubleshooting/diagnostic recommendations and captures recommendations in SAP.
Evaluates monthly oil analysis results and issue recommendations.
Develops, writes, and makes available standard rotating equipment repair procedures.
Performs root cause failure analysis for rotating equipment.
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required.
5 years of Machinist or rotating equipment experience required.
Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero Texas City Refinery, required.
Vibration Institute Level I Certification preferred.
All successful candidates must be eligible to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and must wear this card at all times while working at the refinery.
Position level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
