Job Description
We are seeking a driven Design Release Engineer to spearhead the engineering, design, and release of body closure systems. In this role, you will be the technical lead for assigned components, ensuring they meet all functional requirements, timing milestones, and manufacturing standards from concept through production.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development: Lead the engineering, design, development, and release of body closure sheet metal and hinging systems.
Validation & Compliance: Maintain and update DVP &R and DFMEA ; collaborate with virtual validation groups to ensure CAE scorecards and manufacturing feasibility are achieved.
Cross-Functional Integration: Coordinate packaging with adjacent departments, including Electromechanical, Electrical, Lighting, and Trim.
Strategic Alignment: Work closely with Architecture, Vehicle Concepts, and Program Science teams to align iterative models with functional objectives and system requirements.
Supplier Management: Support and manage suppliers for quality actions and Vehicle Operations (VO) activities.
Reporting: Communicate technical product status and competitor benchmarking data to senior management.

Basic Requirements
Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent ABET-accredited program.
Experience: 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Unigraphics NX and Teamcenter .
Technical Expertise: Intermediate to advanced design/development experience in Body-in-White (BIW) , Closures, or Exterior Systems.
Preferred Skills
Materials & Processing: Knowledge of steel/aluminum forming, high-strength steels, and composite production processes.
Technical Standards: Strong understanding of GD &T and weld parameters.
Manufacturing: Experience with BIW in-plant launches.
Quality Systems: Direct experience with DFMEA and DVP &R documentation.
Schedule & Coordination
Ability to support meetings throughout North American (NA) work hours.
Collaborative mindset to work closely with local engineering teams and Product Design Office (PDO).
