
Tradesworker Specialist I - Fire (Facilities Management)

Responsibilities
Performs specialized work associated with fire protection systems, including the inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems, fire sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and related life safety equipment.
Assists with the inspection, testing, maintenance, and minor repairs of fire protection systems including fire alarms, smoke detectors, sprinkler systems, emergency lighting, and related safety devices to ensure code compliance and operational readiness.
Receives work orders and performs work functions under the supervision of upper tradespersons including electricians and fire systems technicians. Follows direction in the diagnosis and correction of routine electrical and fire safety issues.
Performs assigned construction, maintenance, and/or repair tasks associated with seasonal, special event, and/or daily operation of the County; retrieves tools and materials for and assists skilled and semi‑skilled workers as necessary; sets up appropriate signage and barriers to warn of electrical and fire–related hazards.
Obtains, prepares, and delivers materials to job sites for electrical and fire system installations and repairs; sets up and works from a variety of ladders and scaffolding; keeps workers supplied with tools and materials; responds to directions from experienced tradespersons during routine maintenance and emergency situations.
Responds to service and emergency calls for minor repairs or adjustments to electrical and fire safety systems; takes action to limit further damage or safety risks to County facilities by initiating temporary measures and notifying appropriate personnel.
Gathers, transports, loads, and unloads various equipment, tools, and materials used for electrical and fire system work; follows all safety precautions necessary in operating and handling related equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Cleans, services, and/or operates a variety of hand and power tools, machinery, and equipment as prescribed by electrical and fire trade apprenticeship training standards; cleans and maintains shop areas, work sites, and storage areas to ensure a safe and orderly working environment.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum of five (5) months of related experience.
Fingerprinting required.
Licenses and Certifications
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License with any applicable endorsement(s) to drive a County vehicle as provided in CMA 5805.

Salary offers above the minimum pay grade may be considered based on qualifications.
Essential employees may be required to work during an undeclared or declared emergency. The County’s Administrative Office will determine who will be required to work on an incident‑by‑incident basis.
