Role Description
This is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Houston, TX for a Medium Voltage Field Service Technician. The technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of medium voltage electrical equipment and systems. Day‑to‑day tasks include performing inspections, testing system functionality, analyzing technical issues, and ensuring compliance with safety codes and standards. The role requires collaboration with team members, providing technical reports, and interacting with clients when necessary to ensure successful project delivery.
What You’ll Be Doing
Handling and installing medium voltage cables (5kV–35kV)
Performing MV terminations (cold shrink / heat shrink)
Running tests like:
Continuity checks
Helping with functional testing (start/stop, interlocks, etc.)
Supporting energization and startup
Troubleshooting issues with wiring, terminations, or equipment
Making sure work matches drawings
Helping knock out punch list items
Driving up to field location
Qualifications
Proficiency in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of medium voltage electrical systems
Strong understanding of electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
Experience with testing equipment such as multimeters, insulation testers, and power quality analyzers
Knowledge of safety standards, codes, and regulations related to electrical systems
Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and client interactions
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an on‑site environment
Relevant certifications such as NETA, OSHA, or NFPA 70E are a plus
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field preferred
