Boiler/Utilities Technician

We need a Utilities Technician to manage facility utility systems (boilers, chillers, compressors, cooling towers, fire protection, process support). Responsibilities include monitoring operations, logs, and system performance to identify and address issues, working with maintenance, engineering, production, and QHSE teams. Support preventive and corrective maintenance, maintain accurate CMMS history, assist minor repairs, and uphold safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain high reliability of facility utilities: steam boilers, chillers, air compressors, cooling towers, process water systems, hot oil systems, plant fire protection, and hot glycol systems.

Monitor boiler operations, maintain logs, identify and correct operating problems.

Monitor daily utility equipment operations, correct mechanical issues, and implement plant fire systems preventive maintenance.

Assist maintenance with repairs of minor process equipment.

Maintain containment ponds at appropriate levels in coordination with QHSE and maintain equipment histories in CMMS.

Troubleshoot and correct utility system problems in coordination with production and engineering.

Ensure operation and maintenance of utility systems align with Firmenich safety policies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Blue Seal high‑pressure steam boiler operator license.

Minimum 5 years experience in a chemical plant environment.

Experience with boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air compressors, hot oil systems.

Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance techniques; strong mechanical aptitude.

Ability to work independently and in a team.

Availability for 12‑hour, 7‑day shift rotation.

Compensation
Salary: $57,000–$75,000 (depending on skills, experience, education, location). Additional total rewards include annual incentive, retirement plan, health coverage, paid time off, recognition programs, and other benefits.
