
AV CAD Designer

The AV CAD Designer is responsible for supporting company goals by producing accurate architectural and technical drawings that support sales, engineering, and operations. This role works cross-functionally with internal teams to deliver high-quality documentation for proposals, system design, and project execution.
Responsibilities
Prepare plans, drawings, models, and technical documents using AutoCAD
Revise architectural and technical drawings based on engineering markups
Ensure all drawings meet internal QA/QC standards prior to release
Participate in design review meetings to ensure constructability and coordination with other trades
Apply industry best practices for AV design including sightlines, display sizing, and speaker coverage
Assist in developing standardized room templates and scalable AV design packages
Interpret AV construction documents and scopes of work
Contribute to continuous improvement of drafting workflows and efficiencies
Collaborate with project managers, production teams, and stakeholders to ensure designs meet requirements
Support the sales process by creating drawings for proposals and submittals
Provide documentation for installed systems and internal use
Stay current on emerging technologies and industry standards
Develop detailed AV system drawings including signal flow diagrams, rack elevations, and device interconnects a plus!
Accountability
This role reports to the VP of Operations and works closely with internal teams including sales, operations, and project management to ensure successful project delivery.
Required Qualifications
4+ years of experience using AutoCAD (Autodesk)
Proficiency with AutoCAD 2010 or newer
Strong understanding of drafting fundamentals including scales, layouts, layers, x-references, annotations, and viewports
Ability to produce complete AV drawing packages (plans, elevations, details, system diagrams)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities
Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of AV industry experience
Familiarity with AV design standards (e.g., sightlines, display sizing, speaker coverage)
Experience improving CAD standards and documentation workflows
Experience with Bluebeam for markups and coordination
Industry certifications such as CTS or CTS-D
Strong desire for continuous learning and professional development
