Structural Material Handler
Position Summary
The Structural Material Handler ships finished goods in good condition according to SOP.
Responsibilities
Banding and strapping product to skids ensuring it is secure.
Loading and unloading materials onto and off trucks.
Operating industrial trucks, sit‑down forklift, stand‑up forklift, and cranes.
Building skids/crates (some carpentry required).
Banding I‑beams and columns in bundles and loading them on flatbed trailers.
Using computer skills when staging products for shipping and loading.
Unloading pallet trucks and organizing pallet area outdoors.
Maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Complying with all Daifuku QMS policies and procedures.
Ensuring sustainable process outputs to drive continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
Education and Experience Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
Licensed forklift truck operator.
Experience with inventory/shipping (plus).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Good computer skills.
Good verbal communication skills.
Good organization skills.
Good time management skills.
Self‑motivated and detail‑oriented.
Ability to read, write, and use basic math in English.
Ability to build relationships with co‑workers.
Ability to work under pressure with time constraints.
Ability to complete assigned training in a timely manner.
Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
ADA Requirements
Medium work: exert up to 50 lbs occasionally, up to 20 lbs frequently, up to 10 lbs constantly.
Reaching, extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Standing upright for sustained periods.
Walking long distances or moving between work sites.
Lifting objects from lower to higher position or moving objects horizontally.
Fingering/picking, pinching, typing or similar tasks with fingers.
Grasping and applying pressure with fingers and palm.
Talking, expressing, or exchanging ideas clearly.
Hearing: perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels, receiving detailed oral information.
Repetitive motions of wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Visual Acuity
Close visual acuity required for preparing data, transcribing, viewing computer monitors, extensive reading, visual inspection of small defects or parts, assembly or fabrication near the eyes.
Visual acuity required to operate motor vehicles.
Visual acuity required to assess accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of assigned work or general observations.
Job Conditions
Indoor environmental conditions (protection from weather but not necessarily from temperature changes).
Both indoor and outdoor activities.
Hazards: proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, scaffolding, high places, high heat, chemicals.
