
Shipping and Receiving Clerk

Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Shipping & Receiving Clerk to support daily warehouse and logistics operations within our steel manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for coordinating incoming and outgoing shipments, maintaining accurate inventory records, and ensuring materials are handled efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate has prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment and thrives in a fast‑paced setting.
Key Responsibilities
Receive, inspect, and verify incoming steel materials and supplies against purchase orders and packing slips
Prepare, package, and coordinate outgoing shipments to customers and job sites
Load and unload trucks using forklifts or other warehouse equipment
Maintain accurate inventory records and update systems in real time
Coordinate with purchasing, production, and project teams to ensure timely material flow
Schedule freight carriers and track shipments to ensure on‑time delivery
Identify and report discrepancies, damages, or shortages in shipments
Maintain organized shipping and receiving areas and documentation
Follow all safety procedures and company policies in a manufacturing environment
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 3+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations (preferably in manufacturing or steel industry)
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to read and interpret packing slips, bills of lading, and purchase orders
Experience operating forklifts and other material handling equipment (certification preferred or ability to obtain)
Basic computer skills (inventory systems, Microsoft Excel, email)
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in an industrial environment
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in steel, metal fabrication, or heavy manufacturing environments
Familiarity with ERP or inventory management systems
Knowledge of shipping carriers, freight scheduling, and logistics coordination
OSHA safety training or certification
