Ergon Marine & Industrial Supply, Inc. is seeking a Dispatcher to join our Vicksburg team. As a part of a family‑owned oil and gas company based in Jackson, MS, EMIS provides marine support for vessels and tows along the Mississippi River. The role requires reliable communication with vessels and assisting river crews with their needs.

Dispatcher Responsibilities
Primary switchboard phone operator
MMT on‑call answering service during nights and weekends
Monitor emails frequently for incoming boat orders, verify recipients, and forward to the correct departments as necessary
Forward customer orders received by phone to the appropriate department or pass a message to that department promptly
Call harbor boats directly via radio for immediate orders received by email or phone and enter them into the TowWorks system
Complete Barge Movement Forms for local dock work orders
Create boat sheets for all customer vessel orders, noting all requested services
Communicate with customer vessels daily to obtain current location and updated ETA, then pass this information to all departments using the ETA Notification form or by phone
Maintain updated ETA Customer Vessel Board and boat sheets
Verify Parts List against boat sheets
Verify ETA Notification form from the Grocery Department against boat sheets
Announce loading instructions to all departments using the PA system
Maintain Vessel Traffic Log using AIS
Communicate emergency situations with 911 dispatch
Assist the Vicksburg Information Center (VIC) during high‑water events
Complete Vehicle Release Forms for crew vehicles left on EMIS property
Process crew changes, including scanning TWIC cards for incoming crew members and recording on‑and‑off crew members on a Parts Ticket that requests one crew member to sign the ticket
Dispatcher Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Ability to work well with others
Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail
Clerical experience
Clear and articulate speaking voice
Minimum of two weeks of on‑the‑job training with an experienced dispatcher
Valid TWIC Card (Transporter Workers Identification Credential) or ability to obtain one
Ability to work the required shift schedule: three days 5 AM–5 PM, three nights 5 PM–5 AM, and three days off
Any offer of employment will be contingent on a routine background check, a pre‑employment drug screen, and an acceptable motor vehicle report. We are an EEO/AAP employer.
