Temporary Building Maintenance Technician (UTemps)

Purpose
The building maintenance technician ensures that the facility remains safe, functional, and well‑maintained by performing routine inspections, repairs, and upkeep of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural components.
Responsibilities
Conduct routine inspections of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems to ensure proper operation.
Perform preventative maintenance to reduce the risk of equipment failure; respond promptly to maintenance requests and repair issues.
Troubleshoot and fix problems such as leaks, electrical faults, or broken fixtures.
Maintain and repair building structures, including walls, flooring, and doors, ensuring safety standards and regulations are followed.
Coordinate with outside contractors for specialized repairs or services.
Keep detailed maintenance logs and records of work performed.
Monitor inventory and order necessary tools, equipment, and supplies, maintaining a clean and organized maintenance area.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of experience in a commercial or industrial building maintenance role.
Hands‑on experience with basic plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and carpentry repairs.
High school diploma or GED required.
Preferred Qualifications
More than 5 years of experience in a similar role.
Vocational training or certification in an applicable field.
Ability to read blueprints, manuals, and drawings.
Basic computer skills.
Hourly Rate
$25 per hour, plus additional compensation based on experience.
Work Shift
8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday–Friday.
Infrequent on‑call hours for emergencies requiring additional on‑site support.
Working Conditions
Attire: Blue‑collar work attire, long pants, shirts, and work boots suitable for manual labor.
Manual dexterity required.
Typical physical demands include lifting, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods.
